Parents can do much to insure that children grow up with the high self esteem that will support their happiness, relationships, fulfillment, and success. Here are 10 specific ways to support their self-esteem development.

Look with the child to identify what may be missing that if put into place would allow him to be more effective, rather than looking for what’s wrong with them.

Assist each child to identify and pursue special hobbies, interests, and passions.

Regularly support children to see the other person’s perspective and to possess empathy and understanding.

Set the example of forgiveness by forgiving yourself, forgiving your children, and forgiving others so that your children might learn to do the same.

Live with gratitude and support your children to be aware of and grateful for their many blessings.

Teach each child to expect success, happiness, rich relationships, and abundance.

Teach children the art of visioning and support them to create a written personal vision for every aspect of their lives and to co-create a family vision with all family members.

Teach children to set goals that are attainable, but a stretch.

Teach them to identify their most prevalent emotional response to stressful situations and to create mood-free interpretations at will that are free of anger, sadness, and fear by developing empathy for the other person’s perspective.

Teach children effective organizational and study skills.

By Dr. Joe Rubino

–Author, TheSelfEsteemBook.com

Studies show that more than 85% of the world’s population suffers from some degree of diminished self-worth. For most people who lack a positive self-image, the future looks like a mere extension of their troubled past.

Their expectation of what is to be is consistent with what has been — with a slight and predictable level of improvement. Because of their lacking self-esteem, most are resigned to a life that lacks the excitement and passion that characterizes the lives of those who feel worthy of tapping into the best things life has to offer. People who possess a positive self-image typically have an optimistic expectation of what is ahead of them and as a result, they realize this expectation as a self-fulfilling prophesy.

In contrast to the state of resignation that typifies those with diminished self-esteem, consider the possibility that the future lives as the realization of a promise — a promise you make to yourself and to the world.

The future will result from your expectations and the quality of your future will be impacted by the commitment you have for it. It lives as a possibility. In other words, you get to invent it. In fact, you are the sole designer and architect of what is to be and the result will be entirely consistent with your expectation and your self-image.

In other words, our future will be directly related to what we expect for it to be. If we doubt our self-worth and expect our future lives to be worse than our current situation, we will sabotage ourselves into making it turn out in alignment with this self-fulfilling prophesy. If we limit our expectations and plan on more of the same results we have experienced to date, our apathy will generate a future consistent with this expectation. To the contrary, if we believe in ourselves and our expectation is that our future will be better than our present situation, self-motivation will lead to actions that will bring about the positive outcome we envision.

If we feel good about ourselves and expect to live happy, fulfilled, and successful lives, we will take the actions consistent with realizing that expectation. We will therefore generate the opportunities that will result in rich relationships, abundance, and joy being attracted to our lives – because we believe we deserve it and act on this belief.

We get what we expect and attract prosperity or lack, joy or sorrow, rewarding relationships or angry, frustrating ones all as a result of whether or not we feel worthy. Just as we can doubt our abilities to succeed and our worthiness of attracting rewarding friends and intimate relationships, we can also instead choose to take full responsibility for expecting all aspects of our lives to be the way we want them to turn out. When we come from this positive mindset and commit to manifesting our dream lives, we put forth an energy that attracts all the things we desire to us.

Realize that you have consciously or unconsciously attracted everything that shows up in your life to you. If where you are in life, the relationships you have attracted to you, your physical, financial, emotional and spiritual states are not what you desire, decide now to alter your course. Decide that you deserve better.

Get in touch with the erroneous decisions you made at an early age that impacted your self-esteem. Reframe how you see yourself and resolve to act from a declaration of who you are (just because you say so) instead of the unlovable, somehow defective or unworthy image you made up or bought into long ago.

Change your expectations. Design a life plan consistent with your new expectations. Make requests of those who can support your efforts in some way. The future exists for each of us as a possibility. When we do the necessary work to complete our troubled past and put the self-interpretations that do not support us behind, we can courageously decide to design our future lives deliberately to be in alignment with joy, abundance, fun, fulfillment, and self-love.

When we train ourselves to first expect positive results and then to act in accordance with what we expect, we set the stage for a bright and promising tomorrow. We have the personal power to create our future on purpose. The future can unfold out of our declaration of how we see ourselves and what we expect it to be like.

To the extent that we take responsibility to expect great things in our lives, ensure we give off positive, attractive, loving energy and then get into action to bring about our expectations, we will be the force behind the realization of a rewarding happy future characterized by soaring self-esteem.

So, my challenge for you today is to write out a clear and specific vision of exactly what your life will be like in every area including your relationships, health, wealth and finances, occupation, recreation and social life, and personal and spiritual development. Commit to resolving any past issues that continue to erode how you feel about yourself.

I wrote “The Self-Esteem Book” and the accompanying “The Self-Esteem Workbook” to support you to learn the tools that will allow you to reinvent your life and how you see yourself. When you realize that you have the power to transform your world and enhance the quality of experiences you attract to you, you will begin to act upon opportunities for manifesting joy, fulfillment, abundance, success, and meaningful relationships.

There are no accidents. You are reading this article now because you have attracted the opportunity to take a significant step forward. Seize the chance and begin to look for the countless opportunities to impact your life all around you on a daily basis.

Transformation begins with the intention to look for opportunities that can make a difference in your life and then taking bold, focused action in the direction of your vision. All that it takes is courage to begin the process of restoring your personal magnificence and a commitment to consistent awareness and effective actions.

Elite Speed Reading Review

Learning how to speed read is a great way to enhance your academic and professional skill-set. The Elite Speed Reading program allows you to learn speed reading in an efficient, dynamic, and powerful way.

The Elite program is one of the best on the internet for learning how to speed read — but capitalizing on its greatest features requires a serious time commitment.

This Elite Speed Reading review is split into 3 parts, covering Elite’s

(1) course design,

(2) ease of use,

(3) help and support.

Overall, the review is very positive, but the Elite program is not without its faults.

Course Design

What sticks out most about the Elite Speed Reading training program is the format of the content. Text and software products are common — Elite Speed Reading is audio and video. That means less time staring at PDFs, and more time learning new techniques.

Elite Speed Reading starts off fast: sign up with your name and email, and you get a free training video. This video goes through some fairly solid speed reading techniques, in a simple, straight-forward manner — providing a good example of the program’s teaching style.

However, a significant part of the video (which I encourage you to sign up for) details the “main offer” of the website. There are two parts to it.

The first part is an MP3 entitled “The 7 Secrets to Doubling Your Reading Speed”. This is 40 minutes long, and is packed with a tremendous amount of information. This material is intended to get your reading speed “up and running” right away.

The second part is a 16-week online training course. This is the real core of the program. The training here is fast, serious, and incremental. Login to the Members’ Area, and every week you’ll find new audio lessons, with an impressive array of exercises, drills, and techniques. Every week builds on top of the last, so if you want to make use of the really advanced material, you’re going to have to put in some time and effort.

Ease of Use

Everything on Elite is handled through the main website. Once your order goes through, you create an account, and you login to the Members’ Area.

There, you’ll find links to everything you need — the “7 Secrets” MP3, the Weekly Training modules, and even some interesting little “Quick-Start” videos, intended to introduce you to speed reading and the training style of the site.

All of this is very easy to find, and incredibly easy to consume. All of the core content is audio-based, which means that you don’t need to “read about how to improve your reading skills”; just click “Play”, sit back, and absorb the information. There are text materials also, as extras: exercise sheets, lesson summaries, and bonus material. All of this content can be streamed from the website, or downloaded to your computer, for future use.

The training itself is exactly as straight-forward as it should be. The lessons are all approximately 15 minutes long, and most of them will require you to do some reading exercises during the lesson. For this purpose, you’ll need to pick out a non-fiction book to work through (you’ll be instructed on what kind of book is ideal). With your book in hand, and the audio coming through your speakers, you’ll be guided through the paces, and every week you will improve.

Help and Support

The most important aspect of “help and support” is contact: as a customer of the program, and especially as a “member”, you want to be sure that you have contact to helpful people with the expertise you need.

Your main contact on Elite Speed Reading will be Mark Smith. As you’ll learn in the initial free video, and in all of the lessons thereafter, Mark Smith designed the entire Elite program — so he makes for a pretty good contact. You can send him emails, you can comment on the lessons, and he’ll reply, often with more detail than you might expect.

But you won’t need his help often. The website is well-designed, the materials are easy to find, and the training content explains itself. Should you need to cancel your membership, or request a refund, the process is impressively easy. You can do it entirely by yourself (there are instructions on the site), or you can send an email to Mark, and he’ll do it for you.

Summary

The Elite Speed Reading program is one of the best on the internet for learning how to speed read. The training is fresh and inventive, the content is well laid out, and support is fast and responsive.

If you’re looking for a well-designed, audio-based speed reading program, Elite Speed Reading is for you. It’s free to get started, and memberships are surprisingly affordable. The “16-week” commitment may scare off some, but the end result is remarkably worthwhile.

Check out Elite Speed Reading By Clicking Here today, and see for yourself.

Have you heard of Tony Buzan Speed Reading?

Tony Buzan speed reading was developed by a man named Tony Buzan. He was first inspired to learn to read faster at the age of 14. He had been given a test that was to measure the mental skills of the students.

It had concealed in the test a speed reading test. He scored at 213 words each minute. He thought it was great and that the score sounded really good.

Then he learned that some of the faster students has come in at 314 words per minute. He was just reading at about average speed. Others were reading one hundred words per minute faster than he was.

After this he asked his teacher how he could improve on his reading speed. He was told that there was just no way of being able to do this. That it was like his IQ.

He was soon able to search and then was able to read at 400 words per minute. Eventually his speeds even got to over 1000 words in a minute. He learned that training your mind is not much different than training your body is.

He was able to not only increase his speed of reading but his comprehension and his memory as well. By the way he went on to be a great educator and author who is well known for mind mapping techniques and showing people how to rapidly increase their memory.

Anyhow he was able to take notes better, pass his exams with ease, and was able to even study with more success. He saved days, weeks, even months of time by being able to speed read.

Tony Buzan speed reading is actually a result of over 40 years of practicing and researching in the speed reading field. It has many secrets that he has learned over this period of time.

There are many different things that this course will allow you to be able to do. You will be able to learn techniques that will increase your speed as much as ten fold. This will be down with no loss of understanding. You will also be able to increase your comprehension because you will be reading at thought speed.

You will be able be able to already transform your understanding of information. Another thing is that you will be able to see how your eyes as well as your brain are able to absorb and even retain information.

You can even download this course online. There are courses that are taught but you can learn the same techniques in home right form your computer. Soon you can be reading at the rate that he was able to read with just a little learning and a little work and as shown in the Tony Buzan Speed Reading materials.

Read Faster Techniques Made Simple

Not everyone is able to read fast that is why there are read faster techniques that one can use to help themselves improve their reading speed. All the techniques that have provided by most researchers have been proven to work at increasing speed reading, but they are only effective if they are put into practice.

Step #1:

The first thing that one has to do to be able to read faster and yet understand whatever it is they are reading is to preview the page of article. This involves skimming over the writings to establish the general idea presented in the content. Furthermore, it will help you know what the topic is about and to be able to focus on it as you read. Read the titles over quickly as well as the first and last paragraphs. For the rest of the passage you can skim through.

Step #2:

The second thing would be to ask yourself questions that will help you comprehend the passage more. It is possible to find these questions at the end of the passage, but if they are not provided then try forming your own questions using the title and subtitles. Thirdly, you go to the first reading. Read through it carefully but not slowly staying focused on the topic and the questions that you formed. Make sure you keep a steady pace throughout.

Step #3:

The next step would be top review the passage again by skimming through so as to remember the main points. As you do this pick out the answers to the questions that you formulated. In case of any vocabulary that you do not understand, try to find its meaning by putting it into context.

These techniques are quite simple to follow but it is not over until you make it a point of repeating them each and every time you are reading so they eventually become a habit. Time yourself periodically so you can see how you are progressing with these read faster techniques.

Average Reading Speed – What Is It In Words Per Minute?

Are you looking for information on what the average reading speed is? There is a general chart and you can look to see where you fall under these guidelines. Chances are that you like most people will be around average or a little above.

If you are able to read between 1 and 100 words in a minute then you have a reading ability that is basic. This is a low level reading experience and a low understanding as well as comprehension. There are high levels of regression at this speed as well as mind drifts and sub-vocalization. At this peed reading is very hard work.

If you are reading between 100 and 200 words a minute then you this is average if you are between the ages of six and twelve. If you are over this age then you have probably been avoiding reading whenever it was possible. This has a level of regression, concentration problems, and sub-vocalizing that is quite high. You are probably on being able to comprehend about fifty percent of what you are actually reading.

The Reading Speed Average

At a rate of 200 to 250 words each minute you are at the average reading speed per minute. This is where the majority of the readers in the world are at. The regression at this stage is at about ten percent. You probably have are fully sub-vocalizing everything that you are reading. There are concentration problems occasionally. There is also a general understanding of about half of what you are reading.

At 250 to 350 words each minute you are falling somewhere above average in your speed. This is where people who have graduated high school or who enjoy reading will likely fall. There are some regressions and some sub-vocalizing going on. There are no issues with being able to understand more than half of what you are reading.

At 350-500 words each minute you are getting a decent bit above average. This is getting close to good comprehension as well as a good understanding of what is read. There is likely an enjoyment of reading at this stage. There is also a better recognition of words.

When you reach stages above this you are getting extremely above the average reading speed and are likely to have comprehension of around seventy-five percent or above. This is not typical of many individuals.

How to increase reading speed is something that most people spend years trying to garner. The truth however is that this is not a hard thing to achieve and anybody can be able to increase the reading speed within days.

In average, the reading speed lies within 200 and 350 words per minute. This is however not a fixed rate and anybody can exceed it or go below it. If planning on increasing the speed, there are a number of things that one can do.

So to start you off here are a few speed reading techniques you can put to use immediately:

Tip #1 – Eyes

If you are looking at how to increase your reading speed, the first thing that you have to consider is your eyes. The main reason as to why most people lag behind when it comes to reading is because of their poor eyesight. Reading requires the eyes and their accuracy is what determines the speed at which they will be able to complete a certain number of words. If it is you or your child who experiences slow reading speed, go to an optician and have the eyes checked.

Tip #2 – Skimming

Skimming the entire document before commencing with the reading can also help in improving the speed of reading. Another reason as to why we are slow in reading is due to lack of an idea of what the content is talking about. With a rough idea on the article, one is able to adapt to that language and comprehend much faster hence increasing the speed. Understand the title, subtitle and look for major keywords before reading from the top.

Tip #3 – Pay LESS Attention to Difficult Words

Finally, if you wish to learn how to increase reading speed in as short a time as possible then you will have to stop paying too much attention on the difficult words. At times, going through the whole sentence or paragraph will help understand the difficult word. Never look out for the meaning of a word unless it is not clear after reading the whole passage.

Speed Reading Trainer – How To Choose The Best One For You

A speed reading trainer is one of the things that give people encouragement and motivation when there is a great need to read faster. It is therefore very important to ensure that you choose the right trainer that will give you the best results at the end of it all. There are some few considerations to make when choosing the trainer.

Tip #1: What YOU Read

The first thing that you should consider is the kind of books that you are reading. There are different speed reading software that are available in the market and they are usually meant for different reading programs. It is very important to go for the one that is compatible with the kind of reading that you are doing whether it’s school, business, essay and so on and so forth. This can save you a lot of time and money.

Tip #2: Experience

The other important factor to consider when going for the trainer is the experience that he has. There are many different trainers that are available in the market and they have different specialty. Ensure that you go for the one with the most suitable features and the ones that will help you in one way or another. There are those that can even guide you in making workable reading routines and these are the best to go for.

Considering the fact that they have different levels of experience they are most likely to charge different rates. Ensure that you settle for one that is relatively affordable and not compromising on the quality of the results that he is giving.

Tip #3: Cost

It is also important to consider the cost of the speed reading trainer that you are going for. Ensure that he is affordable and that he does not compromise on the quality of training he is offering.

Evelyn Wood Reading Dynamics

Sometimes known as the Pioneer of Speed Reading, her first system about speed reading: Evelyn Wood Reading Dynamics was published in 1959, and her seminars were popular throughout the 1960s. Her interest began when she was in University just after WWII and noticed that her University Professor could read and mark an 80 page term paper in less than ten minutes.

She was amazed to discover that he could actually read 2500 words per minute, though he couldn’t explain how he did it. She got to thinking that maybe there were other people with the same skills and began her search, finding 50 people over the next two years, of all ages and from all walks of life.

Evelyn Wood Speed Reading

She analysed their techniques and discovered that they read more than one word at a time, and their eyes glided easily and quickly down the page. They adjusted their speed to the type of material they were reading hence retaining and comprehending all relevant information. Evelyn Woods began to teach herself these same principles, and developed a system for teaching to others as she did it.

One of the main things which slow down the speed of an average reader is that they sub vocalise, or read each word individually. When we first learn to read as a child we are told to read out loud, so that the teacher can check on our progress and we can practice making the correct sounds of the word on the page. As we progress with our reading, we are then told to read to ourselves, which we do by reading each word silently in our heads, and often mouthing the words as we go along.

Evelyn Wood realized that this slows down reading, as it is only possible to read as fast as we can speak, when in fact we should be able to read as fast as we can think. People who have a faster reading speed remember more of what they read, because they generally have more concentration and comprehension, they read at their natural thinking speed.

She also advocates the use of a pointer to help with the speed of reading, to avoid eyes from wandering and the re-reading of words.

Evelyn Woods Reading Dynamics course has been popular all around the world, and was studied by John F Kennedy and many other important figures as a method of reading and remembering information from thousands of words per minute.

How To Speed Read

There are many different ways to learn how to speed read. This article can help you with some of the more simple ways to learn how to speed read. If you are really looking to increase your reading potential however you will likely want to get a program or book to walk you through all the different techniques that you can use to read more quickly.

Some of the programs will even have exercises that you can use to enhance the learning ability and experience.

Speed reading improves you reading skills by increasing words that you can read with each block, it also reduces the time spent on each block, as well as reducing the time your eyes go back to a previous section of that you read. These will be explained in the following:

Tips To Help You Learn How To Speed Read:

Increasing words that you can read with each block

This is an effort that is made consciously. You will need to try and expand the amount of words that you are reading at a given time. This will take practice but you will be able to read faster using this method.

You will find that you can do this by holding the material that you read a little further away from you. The more you can read in each given block the quicker you will be able to read.

Reducing the time spent on each block

The time that is need for you to read each block is really only around a quarter of one second. If you work at pushing yourself to be able to reduce the amount of time that you take then you will see that you are getting better at being able to pick up information more quickly. This takes practice as well as confidence to achieve.

Reducing the time your eyes go back to a previous section

In order to be able to do this you will likely need to use a pointer to go along the lines as you are reading them. You can use any object that will help you with doing this. You might choose a piece of paper, your finger, or even a pen. You will find that you eyes will follow the pointer that you are using. This will aid in giving you a smoother flow of reading. The speed that you are able to read when using this given method will depend largely on the speed that you are able to move your pointer.

If you apply these methods to your reading you will see that you are able to increase the speed that you are reading.

You will find that you can get much quicker at reading with these methods but you will also still want to consider getting a reading course to help with what these methods don’t teach you. You can find many programs aimed at teaching you how to speed read.

How to Increase Reading Speed and Comprehension

It is important to…

increase reading speed and comprehension.

Why?

Because there are those that are good in reading faster but in the end they do not understand anything that they have read. This makes it important for one to know how to go about understanding what you are reading when doing it faster.

There are those that are usually not able to read faster because of certain words that they do not know how to pronounce and they also do not know the meaning. You can deal with such words by reading on letter at a time. After reading letter by letter the next thing should be reading it word by word and in a loud voice to give you a chance of listening to yourself. This is usually a good way of reading faster for those who are practicing a different language from their native one.

The next thing that you should do in order to read fast and comprehend what you are reading is to read with you hands. Reading with the hand allows one to read each and every word and do it much faster than they can imagine. This also gives you a better understanding of what you are reading since the mind takes in everything and it is able to comprehend.

It is also important to regularly time yourself so as to know whether you are improving or not. This is also a good way of knowing how well you can understand what you are reading at a fast rate and if there is any other form of training that you need to undergo to make it better.

Ensure that you do as much practice as possible so as to increase reading speed and comprehension because speed reading is actually a skill that needs so much practice.

How to Read Faster

Are you thinking that you need to learn about how to read faster?

The internet is going fast with more and more information, information that you can read. There is something on just about anything you are looking for. To keep up with the ever changing internet you need to read…

The question however is, are you reading efficiently? Only four to ten percent of mental abilities are actually being used by most of us.

Learning how to read faster is really about learning how you can use more of your mental abilities. When you are reading you are actually aware of a voice inside of your mind.

You probably are noticing that you have a voice falling as you are reading these words on your computer. This voice is actually called subvocalization. You might even notice a slight movement that is in either your tongue or even your throat region.

Here’s a Read Faster tip that will help!

If you are subvocalizing then you are actually limiting the speed that you are able to read to that of the speed that you are able to speak. This is only around three hundred words a minute on average.

The brain is actually capable of being about to think at a much faster speed than this. When you are subvocalizing you are holding back the ability of your mind. There is an exercise that you can try.

As you are reading you will want to count silently to yourself count from one to ten. If you are doing this you won’t be able to subvocalize at the same time. This is a great way to get out of this habit.

As you are doing this exercise you will notice that you are becoming more aware of the fact that you no longer processing words in the throat or tongue region but you are actually starting to use an area that is known as the ‘thought stream’ that is experienced in the top part of your head.

You will notice that as your reading starts to catch up with your speed of thinking that reading will not be as tiring as it once was and you will actually improve on your comprehension.

After you notice this you will want to work on speeding up the movement of your eyes. This will also help in breaking the sub-vocalization habit due to your eyes moving fast than you are able to subvocalize. You will find that you have learned how to read faster just by using the methods mentioned above.
